چکیده

In this paper, the performance of quasi-synchronous direct-sequence CDMA communication systems based on diierent sets of orthogonal codes is investigated. We search for sets of sequences that minimize the probability of bit detection error, given that there is imperfect synchronization among the signals. Orthogonal sequences based on the Sylvester-type Hadamard matrices (Walsh functions) are shown to provide a large improvement over the case where an orthogonal set is chosen at random. For these sequences we derive closed form expressions for the average bit error rate. Computer searches indicate that this set of codes has special properties with respect to minimizing the average cross-correlations between the diierent signals for small errors in chip synchronization. It appears that these codes are optimal. We also discuss a multi-carrier signalling scheme designed to help synchronize the CDMA signals at the chip level.

Performance Comparison of Orthogonal and Quasi-orthogonal Codes in Quasi-Synchronous Cellular CDMA Communication

Orthogonal and quasi-orthogonal codes are integral part of any DSCDMA based cellular systems. Orthogonal codes are ideal for use in perfectly synchronous scenario like downlink cellular communication. Quasi-orthogonal codes are preferred over orthogonal codes in the uplink communication where perfect synchronization cannot be achieved. In this paper, we attempt to compare orthogonal and quasi-o...

Loosely synchronised spreading code aided network performance of quasi-synchronous UTRA-like TDD and FDD CDMA systems

It is demonstrated that loosely synchronised (LS) spreading codes exhibit a so-called interference-free window, where both the autocorrelation and cross-correlation of the codes become zero. Therefore LS codes have the promise of mitigating the effects of both inter-symbolinterference and multiple-access-interference in time dispersive channels. Hence, LS codes have the potential of increasing ...

Lagrange/Vandermonde MUI eliminating user codes for quasi-synchronous CDMA in unknown multipath

A family of codes for low-complexity quasi-synchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) systems is developed in order to eliminate multiuser interference (MUI) completely in the presence of unknown and even rapidly varying multipath. Judiciously designed precomputable symbol-periodic user codes, which we term Lagrange or Vandermonde, and the corresponding linear receivers offer a generaliza...

Multicarrier orthogonal CDMA signals for quasi-synchronous communication systems

We propose a multi-carrier orthogonal CDMA signaling scheme for a multiple-access communication system, such as the reverse channel of a cellular network, as an alternative to the multiuser interference cancellation approach. The average variance of cross-correlations between sequences is used as a measure for sequence design. We search for sets of sequences that minimize the probability of sym...
